How to Throw the Perfect Garden Party

April showers bring May flowers and we’re planning garden parties galore! Whether you’re gathering with family after months of separation or inviting your neighbors over for a BBQ, here are easy tips to help you brainstorm for a seamless party right in your own backyard!

HOW TO THROW THE PERFECT GARDEN PARTY!

Size of party - Before getting carried away with decorations and table settings, we need to decide how big or small our gathering will be. Is this an intimate dinner with girlfriends or a large dinner party complete with kiddos running around? Knowing the amount of guests will dictate the remainder of your planning and ensure you stay on budget.

Theme of party - We get it. We survived 2020 - do we really NEED a reason to throw a garden party? Of course not! But having a framework will influence the type and amount of party supplies needed. Do you envision your guests lounging on comfy pillows around a table scape full of candles to celebrate your friend’s recent promotion? Or maybe you and your gals have been dreaming of an aesthetic picnic complete with pink on pink?

Area of party - Does your area have a pool (think string lights reflecting on the water as the sun goes down)? Or is the area tucked within flowers on a gravel path? How easy will it be to transport food?

Food & Drinks - Once you have established the above, begin brainstorming a menu. Knowing your theme and party size will make this easier to plan. Is this a cookout with hot dogs, potato salad, coleslaw, and Mac & cheese? Or pink drinks with a French inspired charcuterie board?

Serving-ware - If you’re like us, we’re ready to break out all of our fanciest dishes - you know, the ones we only use for special guests! We deserve to celebrate! However, if you’re throwing a large party, you might be leaning toward the easiest stress free choice - paper goods. Fortunately, there are chic eco-friendly serving-ware options that will completely elevate your table scape! Here are a few we're loving as well as non-paper goods items we spied:

Decorations - Last but NOT least and definitely our favorite step, is gathering decorations. The best part about a garden party in spring is that your biggest showstopper is the gorgeous foliage in your own backyard! Your seating area should be inviting and bring your guests together. Nothing screams spring more than freshly cut flowers. Visit your local florist or gather blooms from your yard and spread them across your tables in various sized jars and vases. Add a touch of color with a pastel checkered tablecloth or a picnic blanket.
